Know who’s coming. See who’s next.

Crewboard helps volunteer lifeboat and rescue stations that train on a rhythm see who is coming, whose turn is next, and what training actually happened.

Early access for stations. Runs in any modern browser and installs to a phone’s home screen. iOS and Android apps are planned.

Starting board

A fair queue, calculated the same way every time.

The Training Board is two numbered lists, Command and Crew. People waiting longest for qualifying training appear first. Nobody places names by hand.

When an exercise is saved as completed training

  1. The operating helm moves to the bottom of Command, with that date as their last qualifying training.

  2. Crew who took part move to the bottom of Crew, keeping their previous order among themselves.

  3. A helm who went aboard in a crew seat uses no command turn and keeps their Command priority.

  4. Everyone else keeps their order. Some move up because others moved, which is never counted as a turn.

Sunday 27 September, Atlantic-85

Alex operates. Sam, a helm, goes aboard as crew.

  3. Position 3: SamLast qualifying training: 30 August 2026

Alex operates, Sam goes aboard as crew and keeps their Command priority. Command before: Alex, Jordan, Sam, Casey. After: Jordan, Sam, Casey, Alex.

  • Missing a session never costs you your place. Absence and declines leave your position alone, and you move up as others train.

  • Attendance and suggestions never change the order. Only saving completed training does.

  • Corrections are open, not silent. A correction needs a reason, keeps the earlier version and rebuilds the order from history.

Everything a station needs around the board.

The board is the centre. These are the tools a station uses around it every week.

  • Attendance and absences

Members say whether they are coming to each session, or add an absence for a date range. Being away never changes anyone's place on the board.

Confirmed Not attending Not responded Away until 4 October
  • Suggested crew for each session

Crewboard walks the board in priority order and suggests a helm and crew for each boat, skipping people who are away or not attending. Suggestions are advice, marked Provisional, and never change the order.

    Suggested for this session Provisional

    1. 1Jordan HaleOperating helm, Atlantic-85
    2. 2Taylor BrooksCrew
    3. 3Ffion ReesCrew

Position 1 (Morgan Ellis) is away until 4 October. Position 2 is the next available crew member.

  • Training records with full history

Record what actually happened: boat, operating helm, crew and the role each person performed. Corrections need a reason, keep every earlier version and rebuild the board from history.

Revision 2 Corrected by Helen Carne

Reason: wrong boat recorded. Board rebuilt from 23 September 2026.

  • PDF training plans

Upload plans, link them to sessions and publish new versions with a change note. Members can keep a copy for reading offline.

    Night navigation exercise

    Version 3, PDF. Available offline.

  • Installs like an app

Add Crewboard to a phone's home screen from the browser. It keeps the last board it saw for when the signal drops. iOS and Android apps are planned.

    Pending sync Board from 09:14
  • One station or several

Each station has its own members, boats, sessions and board, kept separate from every other station. People who help at more than one station switch between them.

A board for the crew room wall.

Put the board on a screen at the station. The station display is read-only, high contrast and readable from across a room, with Command and Crew side by side.

It opens from a private link that only shows the board. Station owners can revoke or replace the link at any time.

Training plans with versions.

Upload PDF plans, link them to sessions and publish new versions with a change note. Earlier versions stay in the history, so everyone can see what changed and when.

Plans are stored privately. Files are checked when uploaded, and members open them through short-lived links. A plan never changes the rotation.

Useful when the signal is not.

Crewboard keeps the last board it saw and says when it is from, for example “Board from 09:14”. Attendance changes and training records made offline wait as Pending sync.

Queued changes never alter the board until the server accepts them. Anything that conflicts comes back for review. Offline support is in beta.

Station data, handled with care.

What we do today, stated plainly.

  • The database and file storage run on Supabase in its London region.

  • Each station’s data is separated by row-level security in the database, checked on every request.

  • Station owners and admins set roles. Nobody can raise their own role, and removing a member ends their access straight away.

  • Training plans are private files, opened through short-lived signed links after a membership check.

  • Training records and corrections keep an append-only audit history: who, when, why, and what moved.

  • This website uses no analytics or advertising cookies.
